I based this painting of a photograph of my aunt's dog named Bruce who has passed away about two years ago. I drew it in photoshop, and started painting it using different opacities. This time I took the line drawing off, to force myself to do a tighter painting. I did this in about an hour.

#11 wushu 2
I did another wushu gesture study in approximately 40 minutes. I think this one turns out better than before cause I used thinner line for the drawing.

#10 wushu
I was very inspired by the dynamic poses from wushu figure drawing session I attended last Friday, and decided to paint one of the poses. Something quick and gestural. Playing with different opacity of the brush, a new technique I just learned from Sy :) thanks.

#9 spatula part3
It looks kinda flat :( I should really learn how to do better value transition. I still like it even though it doesn't look as real as it should be. Total time spent was nine hours.

#10 Knife
So busy lately, I am sorry to say that I really have no excuse of not doing one post a day. I will start doing them even if I don't sleep. I am currently getting 4 hours sleep a day. Any ways this knife too a very long time. I spend a total of 5 hrs on it. I will fix it tomorrow along adding background. See you all soon. I really had a blast exploring with photoshop.
#8 spatula part2
I spent another four hours on this. I can't restrict myself to an hour this time, since this is an assignment and it has to look finished. This version is not finished yet, but I thought it will be nice to see progress. I have added environment to it, and started to clean up the edges of the spatula. I have till midnight tomorrow to finish this. Hope it will turn out well.
#7 spatula part1
I missed a lot of days of posting already.. :( Anyways, today I painted spatula for Courtney's class, so I thought might as well post it here. This is what I got so far in an hour. I'm gonna add environment around it, clean up the edge and transition in the next two days..

#6 Waterfall
Something different again today :) This time I looked at reference from a picture I took (or was it my sister??) at Hakone Garden in Saratoga. This time I did not paint on top of the photograph, cause every time I do that, the painting turns out kinda stiff. I drew it using pencil tool, and then painted it with bright and happy colors :) Fixed the value of the background a bit by adjusting brightness and contrast to give a better sense of depth..

#5 Freedom
I feel that the last painting I did of my mom was kinda stiff, so I want to loosen up a bit today, and do something out of my imagination. This shows how I feel when painting this. I felt free, and I had fun! The line is really sketchy, but I thought it makes it look like a children's book illustration.. :)

#7 Face Study Clean Up
I was playing with the line edge on photoshop and with the easer tool. I must say it's harder than I thought to get a good fine edge. I really had a lot of fun. I will continue with this picture tomorrow. I hope you guys are having a blast too because I am.
#4 Mom and Dad part2
I missed 4 days already.. Feeling a little rusty. I spent another hour on this. Just mainly blocked in the dress and arms, and fixed the face a little bit.
#6 Face Study
I decided to do some face study the only bad news is that I'm super tired. My eyes can't keep open for a long period of time. I have used my 36 minute to do some structure and pencil in photoshop.I will try to fins the rest of this picture tomorrow or the day after it.

#5 Space Crawler
I been lacking a lot of sleep. I almost forgot to post today. A lot of things has happen. Today I felt like there is this void of space trapped inside my brain. I was going to paint it but it would take too long, maybe next week. Instead I was so tired in animation class and my mind was drift off and I began to sketch and some how came upon this. I decided to paint it so far it isn't finish. Maybe if I have time I will finish it up and show progress.

#3 Market at Sunset
Adding another one onto the pile~ I might have got a bit too carried away with the blown-out background in this one.

#2 A Girl and Her Monster
Haha, I'm coming in a bit late for my submissions. I think I'll be trying to explore color more in these exercises... one of my weaker points.
#4 It Wasn't Me
I stop working on my kitchen and decided to do a quick digital painting. I didn't came up with the story until later on. I started with a quick sketch on photo shop than started layering the paint. I hope you liked it. See you all tomorrow.
#3 Mom and Dad part1
I did this drawing about a month ago, and painted it using photoshop. However, I did not like how it turned out, so I did not even bother finishing it. I thought I would give it another try, since my mom requested me to paint this photo of them since last year.. So I started over, and this is what I had time to do so far. It took me almost an hour. I thought it turned out a lot better than my previous try, so I will continue it tomorrow..

#3 I'll Meet You Half Way
This totally took me longer than I thought. The blending color was very hard. I really need more practice. Over all I am happy even though it is not complete I have to move on and get some rest.
#1 Down in the Cargo Bay
Here's my first post for the blog. I spent a whole lot more time actually thinking of something to do rather than painting the picture. I think I might model the compact stool he's sitting on, just because I thought it was a neat concept. Regrettably, it's not in color.

#2 Kitchen Value Study
This is a value study of my kitchen. It is limited to only black, white, and one value of grey. It is based on a picture I took earlier today. I did this more than one hour, maybe two.
My first photoshop =)
#1 ducks
I started my daily painting journey with something simple. I looked at my cell phone strap as reference. It took me an hour to paint. What took the longest time was figuring out the right value and shape. I should learn how to do more realistic painting, but I am pretty happy with how this painting turned out.Thank you to Sy Phu for the critique.

#2 Creative Minds Exploration
Today I am designing a header for this blog. The reason I design it like this is because for me, creativity is like fire that lights up the lamp. Once you express your creativity, it will showcase your ability to create something meaningful and beautiful. This counts as my sketch for today. Many thanks to Michelle for the critique.
