Hey Matt I edit your post to give you a quick feed back. I really like your artwork today that you did. Looks like you put a lot of effort into it. I think u should make it a bit darker. I redit it on photoshop of your art and on top is an example which I think will make your piece stronger. Plus I think you kinda went on auto pilot with the star. If you have a few of them this piece will be great. I think too much could be a distraction. If you add a bit little white just a bit below the center point of your focal point it would bring your piece out even more. Let me know what you think. Over all wonderful piece.
Yeah, a lot of this piece was auto-piloting. I really wanted to go to bed at that point. I tend to have a bit of a problem when it comes to contrast. Most times I don't utilize both ends of the spectrum because as I'm painting, it seems too heavy to me. Even the one I posted was seriously toned down from what I had before it. And yeah, the stars are just one brush basically. Haha.
Really nice Matt! :) I agree with Sy. The only thing missing from your illustrations is dark value closer to black. They still look nice, but they would pop up more with more of super dark values..
